Carl Ben Eielson: Over the Top of the World
Переглядів 1,3 тис.2 місяці тому
Soaring over unforgiving Arctic expanses, Carl Ben Eielson defied death to etch his name among the most daring aviators ever known. With frozen fortitude, Eielson achieved the unthinkable-the first aerial crossing of the North Pole. But the lure of heroics proved fateful. During a harrowing 1930 ...

We have a home on Reeves. Our home sits just off Lincoln Park. The home sits amongst 4 that sit higher up on the west side of the street. Luckily the only thing that filled was the basement, it was saved. I feel so bad that I can now see the flood wall from my front porch where there used to be a street and neighborhood. We came back as a city.

I’m from Grand Forks. My mom lived across the dyke in Central Park. It was madness. She lost everything. National Guard woke them up at 5 o’clock in the morning and told them to get out. I have pictures of the aftermath. The inside of her house looked like someone had picked it up and shook it. Shook it and sprayed it all with stinky mud. Everything was ruined. I lived about 45 mins away. She came home with me-and never went back, eventually finding a house out by me.

“They’re not thing about death on a daily basis” I do. I have complicated grief and existential OCD. The love of my life died in 2018 so I just research, and research to no end. His mom didn’t do an open casket so it’s hard to conceptualize his death most of the time. I do have some of his ashes so that kinda helps I guess. .

May not be worth the comment, but the NJ national Guard had a weekend training while I was a member. It would have been before "68. I had no idea where we were. In later years I realized that we were where the water would be. The damn was built, but no water pumped in.

What is ignorant old bag I'm sure she's gone now... we are not a democracy we are a constitutional republic. And just because it was a majority of yahs. Does it make it right. It was railroaded through because if it had been debated and the public actually were informed it probably would have lost. Once again POS government corrupted Criminal scumbags deciding what's best for everybody. They all need to be in jail

Anyone being forced out due to Eminent Domain should be paid 5x the assessed value of their property. This country pisses away so much money to other countries, the least they can do is minimize the effect of being thrown out of your home./property. Several times more than the assessed value would permit those to upgrade their property or house size and continue their lives not as a victim but as being rewarded for their sacrifice.

No different than living near an active volcano, along a coastline, in an area prone to tornadoes and other storms or in a seismically active area. Humans have historically built settlements near water and other hazards for a reason. Economic viability comes from having those resources nearby. If we wrote off living on any piece of land that could potentially kill us, we'd have ironically died eons ago. You keyboard hysterics seem to forget that stuff.
